The Arts for Climate Change Project

…is up and running! 🌱🌿🎼🎨

In the first week of December, the first mobility of our 20-month project took place and we had the pleasure of being the ones to start with the first face-to-face activity. 🎉

Our team delivered the ‘Art in Classroom’ training, which used an intermodal approach between inherent language, music, painting and architecture. The sessions were guided by the framework and principles of the Expressive Arts Therapy (EAT).

During the training days, the participants were introduced to a variety of creative tools to be used in the classroom.

They learned about inherent language, had a module on music composition, created artworks and learned about architecture, sustainability and materials. All this was reinforced by visiting the Haus del Musik and Mumok museums in Vienna and watching a documentary on Art and Ecological Activism.

Finally, through their own experience and creation, they were able to see that art is an excellent tool for the expression of emotions and the communication of powerful messages.

Everything that they have learnt is going to be of great help to our project!

Expressive Arts & Clown: Two disciplines brought together for personal growth

This workshop was a blend of the best of both disciplines, offering participants an afternoon full of laughter and personal growth!

Sara Castro Palacios was our guest on this occasion. She is the founder and director of the non-profit organisation “PayaSOS de Emergencia – Clown Humanitario”, which works in hospitals, shelters, prisons and with any population that is vulnerable, in an emergency or at risk.

With more than 15 years of experience in humanitarian clown training, Sara has developed the method “ALUH” ®️. It is based on the exploration of the feeling of love through play and the development and discovery of creativity through art.

Together with Linda Velasquez, one of our team members, they have combined the principles of expressive therapies with clowning to help participants get to know themselves better and have lots of fun.

It was a wonderful activity. It will certainly be repeated!

Arts for Climate Change

The Arts for Climate Change project (KA210-SCH-77769B90) has been approved by Erasmus+. This two-year project will be implemented with four schools in Croatia (2), Turkey and Italy.

We will use different innovative methods and artistic languages to transform school children into real actors in the fight against climate change.

Vienna, Austria | Art to express and connect workshop

On Tuesday last week we held our “Art to Express and Connect” workshop which focuses on the basics of Expressive Arts Therapies 🎨🎶.

In this workshop participants engage in activities of play, conversation and creation. The idea of this artistic-therapeutic space is to use the resources of artistic practice to find our own answers.

On this occasion, all the participants were migrants, which led to an exchange of experiences and empathy for a process that can feel very lonely and complex ❤️.

Stay tuned for more activities!

Florence - Italy | Eco toolbx: a practical approach to sustainable youth work for cultural organisations:

✨Recap of what the team experienced during the training "Eco Toolbox: a practical approach to sustainable youth work"🌿 , organised by @icse.co and funded by the Erasmus+ fund.
It was an intense week, full of meaningful experiences and a lot of learning!

1. The aim of the training was to increase the capacity of organisations to incorporate environmental and social principles of sustainability in our activities, promoting a holistic approach🍃

2. We started the week with team building experiences that allowed us to break down barriers and get closer to our partners.

3. Through the collage we shared what sustainability means to us and what we expected from the week

4. We learned theoretical concepts about sustainability through the dynamics of non-formal education.

5. We linked this theory to our practices as an organisation and were able to identify our strongest and weakest points.

6. We visited the city council to learn about ALIA @alia_servizi_ambientali a local campaign to promote recycling in the city.

7. We got to know the process and the management of “Biblio VerdeArtePassi” by @streetlevelsgallery

8. We worked closely with LUMEN @lumen.firenze who taught us about the different scales of participatory processes.

9. We had a whole day of eco-sustainable building laboratory at LUMEN, where we embodied the concepts of participatory processes and community work.

10. We ended the week learning more about Erasmus+ project creation and developing new projects with our partners from Italy, Greece, Latvia, Romania, Cyprus, Turkey and Spain.

And…we have so much to share but we prefer to end this post with a group photo of all of us who took part of this great experience 🙂

The team returned to Vienna with a broader view of what a sustainable approach to project development and implementation means. Thank you @icse.co for a great week!

Vienna, Austria | Latin American folklore music

Trío del Sur came directly from Chile to share with the city of Vienna their musical journey in the field of folklore and popular music of Chile and Latin America. The event took place on the 20th of July in the Bank Austria Salon im Alten Rathaus.

The musicians not only played their own original music inspired by the rhythms of Chile and Latin America, but also shared information with the audience about the instruments and rhythms of the region.

We’d like to thank the Viennese Community for attending and for showing such great interest.

Bratislava, Slovakia | Living library method: training course

In May part of our team participated in the training course ‘Act it out! -Learning by Living Library’, funded by the Erasmus+ and implemented by the organisation Theater With No Home from Slovakia.

For us as partners, it has been a profound and enriching experience to learn from an organisation with such a long history of honest and caring work with people living in the shadows of society.

The training has not only impacted us on an organisational level, but it has also been a beautiful journey for us – Linda and Fernanda – to work with our own histories, vulnerabilities and taboos.

The experience of connecting with the work of other organisations and learning from other cultures has been a great source of inspiration for our own goals ☺️ 😉

The training took place from 13 to 21 May at Pistori Palace. This is where Theatre With No Home rehearses and performs with its actors.

We had the chance to connect with participants from Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, France and Slovakia ☀️. It was amazing!!

Women Creative Lab! Our new space is open!!

The aim of this group is to connect with other women through artistic (experimental) practice. Because we believe in the power of artistic practice as a meeting place, a welcoming environment where we can share our experiences and be ourselves.

In this place there are no good or bad artists because everyone is an artist. Here we work under the concept “low technique high sensibility”. Here you will be able to:

  • Be yourself
  • Be the artist you have always been
  • Connect with other women
  • Be listened without prejudice
  • Create a network of support

Who carries out the activities?

Meet Linda Velásquez: Architect by profession, Expressive Arts companion and humanitarian clown

What kind of activities will be offered?

  • Mandala workshop
  • Art to express yourself
  • Free play and clowning

Are you interested? Soon the dates of the activities will be announced!!!

Our workshop season is now open!

This season’s workshop is called “Meet the artist” because it aims precisely at the connection between the participants and the artist. No matter if it is painting, music or dance, in our workshops you will have the opportunity to learn from them in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Meet JODE! A Peruvian painter based in Vienna!

This workshop will bring you closer to artistic creation in an intimate and personalized way. In a mini group format (maximum 4 people) JODE will guide you while enjoying a nice conversation in a cozy and relax atmosphere.
